Numbers Are In!!....BUT What Went Wrong??? Need Opinions

So I decided to promote this Reverse Phone Detective Program. It's supposed to show detailed info on any phone number including unlisted and cell phone numbers...anyways, I wrote some Killer ads. My CTR I think is insane. I dropped 50 bucks into my Adwords account and got 119 clicks, BUT not one single sale. I did NOT use the word free in any of my ads. SO what went wrong?????? Here's a snapshot of my results, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks. I can only have an attached thumbnail because I do not have 15 posts yet to make a hyperlink.

I would say you need to do more keyword research and identify the commercial keywords. Check out the Microsoft Commercial Intent tool. Actually if you search commercial intent tool you will find some tools that do a long list of words for you.

Your list of words in the image are really general and more like information words and not commercial words. Maybe you need to focus not on the act of doing a reserve phone search but on why someone would do it. What benefit is derived? Get words that reflect that.

Can You give an example of a "buying" keyword? Theres no doubt I can generate traffic, I can also rank first page in organic listings. BUT I have never sold anything. Its getting highly frustrating that I can get loads of traffic via Adwords and in Organic Listings but never sell anything. Suggestions??

have you tried actually using the google tool, right in google for keywords, because if you know how to use it, it may actually really help you...

Traffic, whether if from organic or AdWord does not mean you should have conversions. If you are not selling anything, it just mean you have the wrong traffic. Target keywords that people would use if they have an issue to address and would require your services.
Like, wife cheating on you, who owns that number she is calling?

Yes and that is the only tool I use and how I got these keywords to begin with. It's getting conversions I am having problems with.

Well all you see here is the keyword but I have phrases very similar to that in the text of the ad But not in the title because I use the keyword in the title to get cheaper CPC. Maybe I need to test a different product or find out if something is wrong with my affiliate link.

Why do something that gets cheaper CPC but no sells? The ad has to sell the click to someone who is a buyer, not just someone interested in phone numbers. Before you go off to another product, try writing ads that convert.

The person clicking the ad is not thinking, "Oh the title of the ad is to get cheaper CPC for this guy, I better read the ad."

Ok, I think i see what you are saying. It just seems hard to believe that 119 clicks did not turn one single conversion when this product claims to convert 1 in 10 I believe. I would have to re-write 88 different ad variations. The Image or thumbnail that I have only shows the top portion of the campaign. Theres lots more than that but I jsut wanted to show the most activity.

Sound like the other thing you are doing is using board match. When you first setup a campaign you should use exact match and turn off the content system. That allows you to get much more targeted traffic and optimize your ads to make a profit. From that base you can then expand knowing you are making money.

I used Exact match. I mean I know what Im doing when it comes to research and get traffic. I guess I just dont know how to make a sale obviously. But one thing you mention was content system. I did have it turned on so I should turn it off and have my ads only in the sponsored results? Correct? Maybe that is why my CTR is so high, people are clicking in the content to expect something free maybe. Even though I didnt use the word free in any of my ads.

even IF you'd have gotten some sales..you know how those single reverse phone things pay only a buck or two??? I had this running once..its BAD for PPC.

$0.50&bid is way, way, way too much for this.

THis niche is only good if you get some organic traffic coming to yours site.

This one pays 18 dollars but I guess there are way cheaper ones to use that consumers are buying, but according to clickbank this was supposed to be a hot product and has pretty high gravity as well not that means a whole lot but maybe I'll try a different product.

Bad niche in my opinion and looking at your highest clicked keywords you don't stand a chance of making a sale with those. Why would someone searching for "telephone directory" be interested in a service that can reverse a phone number to person?

The secret to this is thinking like someone who would be interested in this sort of service, what would these people type into Google? Maybe "find person from phone number"or "locate person from phone number".. Throw your keyword tools away for this and brainstorm like mad until you come up with a list of 50 or so keywords.

Also, don't make the fatal mistake of believeing that high traffic is good.. Wrong! Low traffic and high conversion is the key to success. The traffic you do get needs to be from people actually interested in the reverse phone service not some broad concept of telephone directories.

it pays $18 if people sign up for a long-term plan. The majority of them is usually only looking for a specific nr and dont sign up for those plans..and then you get a buck fifty for it. I know since i had this running for some days.

Edit: Also, assuming that ANY purchaser would actually get the "full plan" for $18...with clickbank conversion rates 1:70 - 1:100 are very, very common. This totally excludes ANY PPC in the range $0.50/CPC. Now figure...you get 85 clicks costing you $42 ---> for a payout of $18 <<------------- The CPC and the possible payout and the average conversion rate should have warned you right away. But.i made that mistake too.

I think i was lured by all the great PR blahblah aka "really great for PPC" <--- BS

there is ONE way to monetize this: This is with special sites whiche have hundred thousands of keywords and sub-pages for PHONE NUMBERS.

You can enter some phone nr. in google, like for NY or LA or some bigger area, and it will come up with a Google listing

EXAMPLE, some random number, enter in google:

731-651-1265

And see what comes up.

This drives traffic to those sites - but its 100% a DUD niche for any PPC.

Yes thanks for all the replies. It is starting to make sense in that regards. This niche is very broad and can account for a ton of different searches. I am fresh into the affiliate world but I believe with my certain marketing strategies and understanding google's algorithm it's just a matter of time until something will hit big time. I'll keep trying different methods with more niched products and see what happens.

THIS IS A GREAT NICHE.

As a matter of fact, the first bootcamp that I ever did I used this product as an example and the gravity of the product went from like 150 to almost 400 in a matter of 2 months while the bootcamp was going on.

I made almost $1,200 profit in like 10 days without even trying really...but all my traffic was organic.

The key with this niche is in the presell. Ask yourself who would want to use this service and then you know exactly what you have to do.
