I did an article recently with a 3 word long tail keyword which had about 27,000 competing sites on Google. I am #1 on Yahoo, But nowhere in Google.. I used a software such as Market Samurai, and I started building backlinks from websites that had the keywords that I wanted to do SEO for. I left comments on sites related to my niche which I found with the Promotion Tool in Market Samurai. I moved from page #110 on Yahoo to the #1 position in 48 hours. I guess with Google I am going to have to wait a few days or weeks for the backlink power to kick in. I know that Google places higher authority in backlinks within the same niche, but I don't think Yahoo cares about links from the same niche. It's all about Page Rank with Yahoo. |

Yahoo doesn't care about PageRank as PR is Google's baby. It is tougher to move up though Google than Yahoo though. Give Google a little bit of time.

Yups Yahoo never cares the niche, but google is very strict on that. If you say yahoo is a king, then googel is Emperor....., I don't think there is more traffic than google.... Am I right?

Yahoo gives much importance to Content whereas Google pay respect to backlinks. For yahoo concentrate on your content and do some advanced onpage optimization.

I assume you are posting the article on your own domain and trying to get the page ranked in Google? If so there also is a remote possibility that the domain you are using was blacklisted by Google at some earlier point in time if it has a history.

I wouldn't focus on Yahoo... especially with the new M$ deal happening. It'll all be moot soon. Most of us just figure Yahoo rankings are an added benefit of Google SEO.

but basically to win in the SEO game, the domain itself must contain the keyword that you want to conquer... plus the title of the website and contents.. An added advantage if we backup with several high PR backlinks.. | |

This might not be the right thread, but I have a new website pplsearch.net. I was curious if anyone could give me some insight in how I might be able to get some traffic with the least possible cost. I don't have very much money to get going. Thanks, Dusty |

I don’t think there is any PageRank system in Yahoo! What you mean is that increasing you SERP so that when your website is searched it will at the top of the search results page. Am I right? Just follow the same SEO procedures that you use to follow for Google.

Yahoo will soon be powered by Bing so it's prob best to start focusing on Bing. Here is a good article on the difference rank factors for the 3 engines called, "Difference in Search Optimization For Google, Yahoo, and Bing." I have been working on 3 different projects as of late and can tell you there are similarities bt ranking in Goog and YHO but Bing is a different story. Yahoo places great influence on Keywords in Title, URL and if you have some good heavy links to back it up, you'll do REALLY well. You can say the same for the other engines but Bing more than others is looking more at different signals, some saying keyword URL match. |

Wow! that very strange that you get rank no 1 in Yahoo without backlinks. The good news for you to rank no 1 in Yahoo, is that they convert much better than Google traffic. Even if you did not rank well in Google, you have the good conversion in Yahoo. |

Yahoo/Bing are both very easy to rank on, I know for all of my targeted keywords, I've ranked #1st through #6th on both engines with the sites I utilize. Lots of backlinks (dofollow/nofollow doesn't matter) , URL + Good titles = high placement. I had a spambot run early on for one site and it made one of my pages #1 on yahoo for several dozen keywords. |
