Buying Signature is useful or not?

I have got an offer from a guy who is having about 1000+ posts on a famous forum, which forum has PR4. I think google oftenly visit that forum. Is it worth of buying signature with 1000+ posts? Will it do any harm? Please advice.....

As far as I know, I don't think, it will do any harm to me, However, will it help me to move further on SERP? (Obviously, once my links are cached there)
