Default huge problem with backlinks, please provide some clarification

ok so i am using market samurai, which gives you stats for domain backlinks and page back links.

i have my domain: http://www.mydomain.com
and then a subpage:
http://www.mydomain.com/cardloan.html

I am trying to optimize both pages for a different keyword each:

i have built aproximate 100 backlinks to cardloan.html subpage

but for some reason they don't show up at all under page backlinks, but i do see the number of links to http://www.mydomain.com is increasing

can you not backlink to subpages or something..does the top level domain take all the credit..whats going on?

You can obviously do backlinking for subpages. Mostly home pages tend to get more links so they usually get the search engine traffic first and usually count the backlinks as a whole for homepage but it is obviously beneficial for subpage. However, if you do good SEO on an inner page then get a lot of links to it then that page will rank better than your home page.
Just do the backlinking for both the homepage and subpages and you will see the results for sure.
Thanks

i do them for both, as they are both optimzed for different keywords each.

the issue is that all of the backlinks I build for the home page show up, all the links i add for the subpage do not. instead, i see the number increasing for the home page, as if its taking all the credit for from the subpage.

It's probably not worth your time to watch the links to a specific page.

Some take months to crawl, others weeks.

Google shows a sampling, Yahoo claims to show everything but even that
is doubtful as to how often that's updated.

Truth is, watch the rankings and look at what your competitors have for
links. Learn more about what a REALLY good link is all about.

There's over 200 signals in the Google algo.

Link specific ones i know of:

* Link Anchor text
* Link age
* age of site the links from
* age of page link is on
* how many other links are on the page the link is from
* PR of site (not toolbar PR either)
* Relavence of link text
* relavence of page link is on
* relavence of site link is on
* follow vs no follow

That's only a sample.

Oh my gosh no...

I mean I wouldn't watch Yahoo/Google more than once a month for how many links
they're showing.

It's too granular. I don't mean don't do it, that would be silly.

I simply mean don't spend too much time focusing on how many each
engine recognized, just keep a nice steady flow of links going to it.

He meant to say that you probably need to wait for months or some time to get your links crawled. You probably checking it too fast so just wait and see the results for your subpages and keywords you are targetting and may be you will get a clear idea about it
Thanks

2)my domain name registration register at mydomain2.com

i build a backlink to both say from Wikipedia

the backlink will show up within a few hours for #1 but never for # 2

Hmm..

Check to see if domain#2 isn't sandboxed or somehow algorithmically challenged in another way, duplicate content or fast linking or brand new domain... etc..

Secondly, why build links from Wikipedia for SEO benefit anyway?
They're all no-follow. They're only good for traffic, which of course
is ok too.

Keep doing your deeplinking. It's great that you're using MS to track your stats as they increase but the search engines take a while to index backlinks. Its best to keep moving forward with your backlinking to both the domain and the deep link. You're fine to backlink both and its encouraged because you don't want all you BLs to go to the domain. and its smart to have the BLs optimized for different keywords in your anchor text and url.

Checking BL stats, won't hurt you but don't dwell on how long its taking to get counted. You can do 100 backlinks and only 20 get indexed over a month. That's okay. You still need to continually do backlinking no matter what is showing.

It's better to look at how the top ten in your keyword are changing over time to see where you need to focus your seo efforts. How are you moving up in the serps? Thats a better question to focus on.

do bing and yahoo adhere to the nofollow attribute like google??

I also think that nofollow links are now showing up as well. Thought I read something the other day how they are followed but perhaps they dont flow PR thru. You might want to checkout the current status of the whole NoFollow stigma ... might not mean that much anymore.

Just a thought
