In order to drive sufficient traffic to my own website, do I really need to build links aggressively?
I'd like to know if I only stick to a particular method of building links to my site, say "ONLY" submitting articles to article directory. How long/much should it take in order to get at least 100 unique visitors per day? Perhaps, there are other alternatives that are more effective to build organic traffic? For an absolute newbie like me, which link building method do you really recommend for a good start? Hopefully some seniors here could shed me some light. I'm more than happy to listen to your advice. Any kinds of inputs will be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

A good question, but you'll find most of your answers in other posts.
To sum up, you should acquire your links from a variety of different sources, as opposed to just one. Rather than just submitting articles, also do some social bookmarking, some forum posting, some blog commenting, some three way link exchanges, and things like that. The more diverse your backlinks are, the more natural they will look, and the lesser chance that you'll trigger some filter. In regards to how many backlinks you need to get 100 unique visitors a day, this isn't the sort of question that has an answer. To get 100 visitors a day you'd need to get an actual ranking under a keyword phrase that receives searches each month, and the number of backlinks you'd need to get that ranking isn't definite. SEO isn't a straightforward game, especially when it comes to off-site link building. I recommend you use the Google Keyword Tool located at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal to find a phrase that gets at least 10,000 searches a month, that you can monetize on, and that doesn't have too much competition. If you get a #1 or #2 ranking under a term with that search volume, you should be receiving about 100 visitors a day. In terms of how many backlinks you need to get such a ranking, this cannot be answered. 1 backlink from a high PR authority site in your niche would get you a high ranking if the niche isn't competitive. 10,000 backlinks from poor quality sites won't get you anywhere in a competitive niche. So it's all relative. There have been some fantastic discussions in this section of the forum which will help you get started. |

It's difficult to get backlinks with article directories now because Google's duplicate content filter is so harsh. A couple years ago, you could submit the same article and they all got counted. Now you have to change a lot of the words and it's very time consuming. Forums are good for backlinks and traffic. This forum is good. Just make productive posts. Stay away from the nofollow forums because you don't get any link juice.

i am not an expert on IM nor niche finding but here's my thoughts.
I started off with a personal blog and blog about a particular game and shared my tips and experience with the game. And suddenly i discovered i had influx of traffic from people wanting to find more about the game. To get even more traffic, i did minor keyword research and did some seo to the posts which moves me to the top of google for the keywords. And that results in me getting around 100 unique visitors per day for those particular posts. for your info, for the keywords, the global monthly search was like 4400 and around 120k results in google search. |
