Default Social bookmarking a blog - homepage or individual entries?

I want to submit my blog to some social bookmarking sites but I'm not sure if I should just submit the address of the homepage, individual entries or both I'm really trying to knuckle down and improve my SEO ranking, because it's really poor at the moment so would like to know what you guys recommend I do. I only plan on doing this a little at a time, I know search engines prefer that and I certainly don't want to be flagged for spamming if I submit too many entries/pages. Advice much appreciated

Both. You should do a bookmarking session for each and every page you want to get search traffic and social referral traffic to.

{sigh}

You won't be flagged for spamming. Think about it. If it was that easy a competitor could put your site in an automated bookmarking tool and get you flagged.

individual will be better. Since you want targeted traffic, some one who wants to read your articles rather than the blog home page.

Excellent, thanks

How do you think I should go about this in terms of volume and strategy? Thanks to a fellow Warrior in this thread, I have a substantial list of recommended social bookmarking sites. Should I sign up for them all(or as many as possible) today and submit the homepage and a bunch of entries/pages? Or is it better to do a few a day? From now on, I will of course be submitting new entries as soon as I have finished them

I use Bookmarking Demon for this. Big Mike's SocialBot is a good alternative if you're on a budget. These tools automate the submission process for you to many sites and will save you a lot of time as long as you use them correctly.

I'd say start with your homepage and start working through your existing pages. Also include links to news articles and other blogs in your profile so that your account doesn't look 100% self-promotional. You need to do this slowly and gradually. While Google doesn't care about the self-promotional links, the owners of the social bookmarking sites often do and will ban you if you aren't providing value to them and/or your profile looks spammy.

I would focus on 40-60, 40% homepage and the rest on your deep links. The deep links is really where you can drive targetted traffic that can convert for you. So in essence both. Just do it every few days so it doesn't look like you're some 'self promoter' that way you stay under the radar and your sites can start attaining rankings. On average I start to really see benfot at around the 3 month mark althought this varies for site, 3 months is abotu average when you really notice a jump in rankings.

Good luck

Bookmark both. And don't worry about spamming.
