do follow vs no follow blog backlinks

Im trying to do my first backlinking campaigan and wanted to use backlinks from blogs as a source of traffic and to incraese my rankings in the SERPS.

However from what ive been reading no follow links don't count as a valid backlink and do follow does? Can anyone confirm this?

Also how can I tell a do follow blog from a no follow blog?

no follow as a backlink has really no value, coz you are telling the crawler not to crawl through the link. it is good for some blogs or social media where there is lots of traffic, where users will come and hit the link.
other wise do foloow are the most preferable ones.

how do i tell if a blog is do follow or no follow?

You can check it with nodofollow addon as it highlighted the text with different colour for nofollow and dofollow blogs.
You can also check it in the page source by right clicking on your hompage and clicking on page source and then search for nofollow and if it's there then its nofollow otherwise it's dofollow.

The best tool I have been using to find Nofollow or Dofollow is with the help of Nodofollow firefox add on..

To tell a dofollow blog from a nofollow blog you need to have firefox. Install the "NoDoFollow" plugin. When you use it, you will be able to tell if the links are dofollow or nofollow because the dofollow links are blue, and the nofollow links are red. Most wordpress blogs are automatically nofollow. The ones that are dofollow are usually Drupal based. You can get a lot of comments off drupal blogs. Nofollow blogs don't count for rankings because they don't give link value.
