It's no secret you can find tons of PLR articles for free all over the Internet. Just do a Google search for free PLR articles and you'll find over 337,000 matches. That's a heck of a lot of matches.

So why would you want PLR articles for free? Believe it or not, there are two ways to look at this question.

The first and most obvious way to read the question would put the emphasis on the word "free". No-brainer, right? I mean, who wouldn't want free articles they can use on their websites, in their autoresponder emails, in their newsletters, as a bonus to a product, on their blogs, etc? I'm raising my hand - give me that free PLR!

But not so fast. The less obvious way to look at the question - So why would you want PLR articles for free? - is to look carefully at the word "want". Why would you want them? Is free really a good thing here?

Here is the downside of getting free PLR articles:
  • Lots of times, free usually means less-than-stellar quality. In fact, the quality can be so poor you'll end up spending more time fixing them than writing your own articles from scratch.
  • The subject matter of these articles is way out of date. This can be particularly true when it comes to technology-related articles and anything else in our society that changes at a rapid pace.
  • Everyone else has these same articles. They've been around the block several times and they're worn out and tired.
But you still want to get you some! So here is what I recommend you do in order to bypass problems often associated with free PLR articles:
1. Don't bother downloading those packs of 140,000 or 10,000 or even 900 PLR articles. The quality is suspect and they've been around more times than that loose girl in your high school.

2. Visit the quality PLR sites; where the articles are written by native English-speakers, the quality of the articles is high, and the seller's reputation is good. If you don't see any free articles on their sites, do a search for their name + free plr. You can also get on their notification list as periodically they'll send their list some fresh new articles at no charge.

If you don't know the trusted names in PLR, do your homework at places like the Warrior Forum. Look at feedback and recommendations.

If you find some free stuff that looks promising, by all means download it. Then check it out thoroughly and if it's crap, don't save it as it will just clutter up your hard drive.

3. If you know some of the article titles in the pack before you get it, do a search with quotes around one of the titles and see how many are using it "as is". It shouldn't matter though, because ideally you are going to do at least a light rewrite and change the title to add your own favorite keywords.

4. You can check to see how long these packs, especially the free mega packs, have been out there by using Google. Click on Google's "Everything" link in the left sidebar, then "News". Scroll down and put in your own custom range (dates).
So there you have it - the problems and some ideas on how not to have the problems. But wait, that's not all... it's your lucky day! Get yourself some high-quality PLR articles for free from AllstarPLR.com, one of the most trusted and recommended PLR article sites.
