Why so serious?
That's the Jokers tagline in last years Dark Knight movie. Blogging is a very serious business, but sometimes you need to take a step back and stop taking yourself so seriously. This goes for pretty much anything you're doing.
As I said in the title, sometimes people are just searching for funny blogs to read. If you're writing about rocket science or brain surgery joking around might not seem like the way to go (although you'd be surprised what you can joke about).
Most blogs, however, are not about either rocket science or brain surgery. Most blogs are about topics that are far more down to earth. And I'm not saying that you should add a punchline to all your blog posts, far from it!
I'm just saying that sometimes a smile will go a long way in building a relationship with your reader. When you've build that relationship making money will be so much easier.
There are a handful of bloggers I truly trust. And if they make a recommendation I will hit the buy button instantly! One of the ways they managed to build that trust was humor.
They gave me a part of theirself in their blog posts. The good. The bad. And the hilariously funny. Those are the kind of blogs that eventually win a huge audience.
Don't be afraid to give your visitors a piece of yourself. Don't be afraid of being funny, even if it's at your own expense!
