Without a doubt, one of the biggest lies ever told about running an eBook publishing business is that you have to be the person who created the eBooks that you sell. Stop and think about this for a moment. When you go to the bookstore and are browsing the shelves, how often do you see a book that was written by the owner of the company that published the book? It's very rare.

When I first got started, you know what I did? I purchased what are called "resale rights" to an already existing eBook in the diet and nutrition niche. Let's get real. How many ways are there to lose weight and eat healthier? My feeling was that it made more sense for me to just buy the "resale rights" to an eBook that talked about the subject of diet and nutrition than it would be to create one from scratch. You should be thinking the same way. Remember, your success and failure as an eBook publisher ultimately comes down to how well (or not) you market the eBooks you have published. Can you create an eBook of your own from scratch? Absolutely. There's nothing wrong with doing that, and I've do it myself on more than once. This has been especially true when my own personal expertise and knowledge was relevant to the subject of the eBook. But whatever you do, don't fall for the biggest lie ever told about the eBook publishing business -- namely that you have to create all the eBooks that you plan to sell yourself from scratch.
