How Much Cash Can You Really Make Selling eBooks on the Internet?

The other day I was having lunch with my ex-girlfriend at a restaurant that she and I used to go to all the time. She was talking about the long hours she was putting in at work, and asked me how things were going with my various online businesses. I told her that things were going well. She then asked me in a very sincere and curious way, "how much money can you really make selling eBooks on the Internet?" This question took my by surprise because she never showed much interest in my business while we were dating.
She's not alone in wondering about that. Everybody hears about the so-called gurus who create and sell thousands of eBooks every month. On the other extreme, we all know at least someone who is struggling to make money on the Internet. What we don't really hear much from are the people like me who aren't making a gazillion dollars, but who are still generating extremely useful amounts of money by creating and marketing eBooks. My results are perhaps atypical of what you could expect to earn, but right now I'm generating approximately $8,000 every month just from eBook sales alone.
My ex-girlfriend broke up with me because she wanted to date other people. She dated a guy for about 4 months before he moved away. After hearing how much I make selling eBooks on the Internet, I really think she seemed to see me in a slightly different light. Maybe we'll get back together again. But if we do, I suspect that I'll be helping her create and sell her own eBook on the Internet.
