Business and Life to Tell or Not To Tell

There are two schools of thoughts when it comes to setting personal and business goals. The first say you should tell people so it puts you on the spot. That by telling others what you plan to do will make you do it because you don’t want to look like a loser or a failure in their eyes.

It’s like holding a hammer over your head so if you don’t do what you tell others you are going to do you will be embarrassed and or lose face.

The second group says you should keep the plans to yourself and those that would support you. The reason you don’t tell anyone is because family and friends, although they have your wellbeing in mind will handicap your goals with their opinions and advice; sometimes they may even make fun of you trying to be humorous.

Which method you choose is up to you, but will actually depend on your character. If you are the type that is easily swayed by others then you’ll want to keep your goals and plans to yourself and those that you know will support you.

Before the internet it was hard finding those that would support you. Far too many are of a negative nature and think only those with “luck” are the ones that make it life. Say one word of setting goals and becoming rich, inventing something, writing a book, or anything that is beyond them and they will cut you down and shred your dreams.

Years ago when I had read books written by Norman Vincent Peal, Napoleon Hill, Anthony Robbins and Jim Rohn, there was no around I could discuss it with. Working in a factory most people either laughed and cracked a joke or shook their head like you were crazy.

With the internet it is now possible to merge both schools of thoughts into a new method. Get yourself a blog and form. Create a discussion group for building a mastermind group through your forum, use the blog to state to the world what your goals are and what you are going to achieve and when.

Do not allow comments on the blog, this is to keep you to task not to open yourself up to ridicule. Make updates at least every week at how you are progressing. This will keep you focused.

Use the forum to recruit those like you that will help you and who you can help through the formation of a mastermind group. Make sure EVERYONE will benefit from the group.

By this method you put yourself out there to be held accountable but not open to the ridicule. You also build the forum to build your mastermind group.
