Spirit of Giving – Important to Life and Business
At no other time of the year do we realize the importance and rewards of giving. During Christmas we feel the spirit of giving all around us, people that would normally never give are giving and those that give always are giving even more.
Giving makes you feel good about yourself and joyful in being able to make someone else happy. If giving makes us feel so good then why don’t we give more often?
Giving can come in all forms including in normal business transactions. When you give more than expected in a business transaction your customer remembers you and your company. The next time they are in need of a similar product or service they will come to you first.
They would much rather deal with someone that over delivers and leaves them feeling good about the transaction then someone that they feel is just doing business.
The benefit goes both ways though, when you over deliver it leaves you feeling good knowing that you are providing a true value to your customers. When you and your customers feel that a business transaction has been of great value it builds a true relationship that goes beyond the usual business transaction.
All interactions involve emotions so why not pursue emotions that leave others feeling good. When you strive to truly help your customers and make them feel good about the transaction you are left feeling good as well. This leads you to try to improve your product even more and the process keeps repeating itself.
Doing business in this fashion grows your business faster than any other method. Your customers are your greatest asset and should be treated as you would treat your family.
When you are undecided as to add a feature for free or charge a fee for it, go with the free choice. Unless it’s something major the unexpected add-on or free upgrade will leave you a customer that will do more for your business then any amount of advertising.
During this Christmas season look to see what you can give your customers just for the act of giving. Find something that you have in your product vault and just send it out with a Christmas wish. No sales pitch, no affiliate links, just a simple and heartfelt Merry Christmas.
