If you are an affiliate using article marketing you should understand the main purpose of writing articles.

So why do we write articles and what are articles anyway?

The answer is Content. In the Internet world everything is about content. And content is information. The consumer goes and searches for information.

If you think about it there would not be any sale without the information first. The information is first then comes the sale. But article marketing is mainly designed to help consumers find answers to the questions and problems they have.

· Your article is not a sales copy

As an affiliate using article marketing you should know that the article is not a sales copy where the only purpose of the sales copy is to sell the product. The purpose of articles is to provide useful information that the consumer is looking for.

You are answering questions that the consumer has within the body of the article and the only place you direct the consumer to visit your website is the author recourse box by the end of the article.

· The article should not be a machine for backlinks

If you are writing your articles just to get some backlinks you will never make money with your articles!

And that is something that you should never do especially if you are an affiliate doing article marketing. It is because the backlinks don’t really matter that much and besides you will get them anyway but the main purpose of an article shouldn’t be getting backlinks.

There are tons of articles just for this reason and believe me they are not making any money because most of the time they are produced by spinning software and the quality is so bad that nobody will read them and if somebody does then they will not take the step to visit the website.

This is very important to understand especially for affiliates doing article marketing because if you are doing just that to write articles just to get some backlinks by the time the backlinks kick in you will stop promoting the product or be out of business.
