Sadly, too many believe they need to be the top expert in a niche before they can create a product. People don't learn from listening to brilliant scientists with the social skills of an amoeba. They learn from great teachers who can convey their message in a way that is easy to understand.
That's why I never claim to be the best there is on any topic!
My customer doesn't need me to be the top expert on a topic. He needs me to be able to convey the message to him in a way that makes sense.
Really! It's not rocket science! (At least it's not supposed to be.)
Nevertheless, you shouldn't be a total newbie on your topic either!
You can't convey something you don't understand!
If you don't understand the topic it will show in your product. Believe me! You can't hide it.
On the other hand, if a customer asks you a question and you can't answer it right away, that's OK! Just tell the customer you'll get back to him as soon as possible. Most people will understand that.
What if you really want to write a product about something you're don't have too much experience with. You probably think that's impossible.
Nonsense. If you spend enough time researching the topic you can easily create a product about the topic. In fact, you might even consider turning your learning process into a part of the product, as a case study.
