Facebook Fan Page iFrame Tips: Using Your Wall Photos to Grow Your Email Subscriber List

Along with all of the changes to Facebook fan pages that came along with the new iFrames functionality, you may have noticed that there is now a place for five photos at the top of your fan page. Most people simply use those photos to put images related to their fan page content, however, I was perusing youtube.com recently and I learned a great little trick from Jo Barnes that I am going to share with you now that will show you how to put those images to work growing your email subscriber list.

What you are going to be doing is uploading a graphic image that will become clickable into each of those five spots. You can create the image in Photoshop, or Gimp or whatever image software that you have on your computer. You can create images with mini-headlines about what the link will offer them. They could say, “Click Here for a Free eBook,” or “Tutorial Videos,” or “Fill out a Survey” or maybe, “Secret Surprise!” The point is that you want to pique their curiosity so that they will click. After they click on the image they will be presented with a link in the caption box to the page where they can get what was promised.

This is a nifty way to make use of some prime real estate on your fan page, and if you make the images link to your squeeze page you can grow your email subscriber list.

Here’s how easy it is to set this up:

The first step is to create the five images that you will use in the photo panel on your fan page. Save them all in the same folder and name it something related to the topic.

Go to your fan page and click on ‘Photos’

Click on ‘Upload Photos’

-Select photos (choose the multiple photo upload option and upload all five images into the same album.

-Fill in the caption area with a bit of descriptive text and then the link that you want people to click on.

Now when you go back to your fan page you will see all five images displayed across the top of your page offering your visitors lots of options that will add value to their visit to your page. Use your imagination to come up with lots of ways that you can use those images to catch your visitors’ attention and engage them with what you have to offer.

Remember that one of the cool features of Facebook fan pages is their ‘viral’ ability, which means that when one of your fans likes your page or one of your posts, that ‘like’ is noted on your friend’s wall making a link to your fan page and the fact that this person liked it visible to all of his friends. If one of his friends then clicks on your link your reach begins to expand exponentially—like a virus, but in a good way.
