Article Marketing Strategy Post-Panda

Just a short while ago, article marketing was a strong way (on its own) to make money online. The idea of "bum marketing" took the Internet by storm and many people began emulating the model.

This is something that always happens online and usually leads to that method being used so much that it becomes ineffective. This is where we are after the Panda rollout that is still continuing.

Not that bum marketing is out, the question many Internet marketers are asking is whether or not article marketing still makes sense or not. With that in mind, here are some tips to help with your article marketing strategy in 2011 and beyond.

  • Not Easy - Article marketing is not going to be as powerful as it once was (even a few months ago), but this is to be expected of any money making method that only relies on one thing. The good news is that with the lure of "easy money" gone, many people will stop doing article marketing altogether.
  • Quality over Quantity - In the past it made sense to publish as many articles as you possibly could no matter the quality. As long as the editors of an article site let them through, people were pushing tons of content onto the article directories. As you might imagine, this flood caused the overall quality levels of the directories to plummet over the years. In 2011 and beyond, it is going to be more about quality rather than quantity.
  • Trusted Article Directories - While there is software that will "blast" your article to 1,000 or more article directories, a lot of the second and third tier article directories are just not going to pull the same weight they once did. It is better to concentrate your effort on the top 3 to 5 article directories that are still trusted in Google and the other search engines.
There are other tips you are going to want to implement for your article marketing strategy in 2011 and beyond, but these should get you started in the right direction.

Post-Panda SEO is all about quality and trust more than quantity and thin content. The sooner marketers realize this, the sooner they are going to be able to adjust their strategy for marketing with articles.

While this method may not be as popular as it once was, this is actually a good thing. Rather than people using article marketing to make a quick buck, they can use it to build their own brand online, which has more benefits in the long term.
