Website Traffic Tips - What is the Best Way For a Beginner to Start Generating Traffic?

Although sometimes marketers like to harp on about how important it is to get more traffic (I'm guilty of it too), sometimes less is more. The fact is, if the traffic you get is not targeted, and then it is pretty much useless. Many times, a campaign that receives less traffic but is more targeted will make more money than an untargeted campaign that drives a lot of traffic.
On that note, here are 3 of the best ways for a beginner to start generating a generous amount of traffic to their sites:
1. Article marketing. This simple method of writing articles and submitting articles has worked for nearly a decade now and it is still going extremely strong. Fact is, I myself have written close to 5,000 articles online now and I wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't bringing in considerable dividends for me!
2. Pay Per Click advertising. If you have to money to spend, then paid advertising is always going to be the best option to start getting traffic and scaling it. With money, you can start testing with 100 visitors on your first day easily. The downside is that you have to test a lot before you find the optimum keywords and ads that will bring you profits. So you may lose a little money in the beginning yet make a lot later on.
3. Referral traffic. This is traffic that others refer to you. The traffic can be from affiliates or joint venture partners. This is the best kind of traffic to get because it is virtually work-free (others are driving traffic for you in exchange for some of the profits). The only things you need are an affiliate program and the eagerness to network!
If you're just starting out, I would advise starting with article marketing, then using referral traffic and then finally to pay per click advertising when you have made profits. This is the path I used, and it hasn't done all too badly for me at all!
