You can make a lot of money from email marketing, but not if your subscribers don't open your emails. When people tell you that the money is in the list, they are not telling you the full story. Yes, you can make a lot of money from list building - if your subscribers open your emails and take the action that you want them to take.

1. Your subject line. You need to write a killer subject line that grabs your subscribers' eyeballs and 'forces' them to open your email. You've got to get them excited and curious to know what's in your email. If you fail to do this, your email is destined for the trash folder.

2. The content of your email. Some words and phrases trigger spam filters in email providers and this prevents your email from being seen by your subscribers. Although your email may not be spam, email providers may perceive it as being spam due to the language used. Words like 'income', 'click here' and dollar signs can trigger these filters and cause your message to not be delivered properly.

3. The domain of your reply-to email. If the domain is blacklisted by Internet service providers, then there is a strong chance that your email will not get delivered or end up in a spam folder. The way to remain out of this list is to use legitimate email marketing tactics.
