There is no 'perfect' business model as such, but in my view, nothing comes close to the digital information products model. People are hungry for information, especially insider information that you can't get from bookstores. With information products, you don't have to ship anything, rent office space or hire any employees, and you don't even have to deal with fulfillment or support if you're in affiliate marketing.
However, there are ways to make this business model even more efficient. Here's how:

1. Outsource Customer Support

When your business is at the point where it is making a lot of sales, you are bound to receive a lot of customer support requests. Handling all of them can become a handful. You can hire a virtual assistant to answer all your customer queries while you spend your day on more important (or fun) activities.

2. Outsource Product Creation

If you're an independent publisher and you're an expert on your topic, you may want to create products on your own. But whenever you're feeling a little lazy or you're entering a niche you know nothing about, you can always hire out your product creation to an expert freelancer to get the job done.

3. Automate Your Marketing

A lot of marketing requires manual labor. Writing articles, posting ads, writing newsletters etc all require manual work. However, there are forms of marketing that are largely automated as well. While you still need to maintain and refine them, they can operate without your presence. These include pay per click advertising, co-registration (buying leads), banner advertising. These marketing techniques can revolutionize your business when you do them right.
