Increase Link Popularity With This Simple 3 Step System

Getting links to our sites sounds like this boring, repetitive task but something many of us think they have to do (or outsource) in order to get the traffic we want. Yes, it's true that one-way incoming links are a main component of Search Engine Optimization or SEO, that doesn't mean you have to spend hours per week submitting to search engines and directories and spinning articles. Instead, I recommend you focus on a few key activities that will increase your link popularity while also building up your expert status.
As a bonus, you will generate quite a bit of additional traffic outside of "just" the SEO visitors you will get as your site starts to rank in Google, Yahoo and Bing/MSN.
How do you do it? Here's my strategy in 3 easy steps.
Step1 - Write And Submit Articles
An easy place to start is to simply write and submit articles to article directories like EzineArticles.com. I like to look at a blog post or article on one of my websites and then think of a topic that's closely related to the topic of my blog post.
For example, I have a blog post on one of my sites about "how to use Aweber". A Good article idea would be to write something about the 10 reasons why you should be using an autoresponder. I can then easily transition to my "how to" blog post at the end of the article and link to both the blog post and my home page in the author resource box.
Those resource box links will start to increase your link popularity and will continue to do so with each new article you write and submit.
Step 2 - Invite Your Readers To Link To You
Another favorite strategy of mine is to invite my readers to link to me. There are a couple of different ways to do this. The first one is to simply tell them. You'd be surprised how many people have no idea it's ok to link to your website, especially in niche markets. Create a page on your site that explains that yes, it is ok to link to your blog posts, articles, recipes etc.
If you are using WordPress, I recommend you install a plugin like Sociable. It makes it easy for your readers to tweet, Facebook and social bookmark your content.
Step 3 - Start Guest Blogging Regularly
A quick way to increase your traffic and subscribers instantly while building strong incoming links is to guest blog. Find a blog in your market or niche and read through quite a few posts. Once you get the tone and specific topics of the blog, start building a relationship with the owner. You can do this by email or simply by writing quality comments on some of the posts.
Once the relationship is established, approach the owner about the possibility of writing a guest blog post. Spend some time on the post and make it a good one. Send it to the blog owner for publication. Don't forget to link to your home page and possibly one other key page on your website (A stellar blog post for example).
The Bottom Line? To get more traffic to your website you have to build more links. As your link popularity increases so will all the traffic you are getting from the pages that link to you and of course SEO traffic as you start to rank for your keywords.
