Making money in affiliate marketing is very doable, but making boatloads of money is a bit different. Now, this marketing strategy is one of the best ways for newcomers to get started making some money online. The hard work for you has already been done; the product created, the market research done, the sales letter written, and after the sale is made, you don't have to do any customer service. The only thing you have to do is promote your product. The thing is, it's promotion that is the key to making serious profits. It doesn't matter if your product is the best, but your marketing is not up to scratch. You won't make much money this way.

The first rule of marketing is to go where your target market is. Let's say you are promoting a product on how to speak Spanish. You wouldn't go on to Internet marketing forums or health forums to promote that product. Instead you would publicize your product at language forums, and the relevant categories on article directories. You would bid on keywords on Adwords that are related to speaking Spanish. Otherwise, you will be wasting your time and money. So go where the target market hangs out.

The second rule is to write powerful ads. Boring ads won't make much money. You have got to get your market enthusiastic about your product. So pick up some copywriting chops by studying a few copywriting materials from greats like Joe Sugarman, Ted Nicholas and Dan Kennedy.

In a nutshell, affiliate marketing comes down to picking the right product, finding where the target market is hanging out, then writing ads that appeal to your audience. Do that, and you will make tons of affiliate commissions.
