I started my business some time ago and I'm not going kid anyone, I wasn't perfect. Neither will you when you start your business. I made a ton of mistakes when I started and it's going to be the same for a lot of people. But I'm going to help you shorten the learning curve with this article that will have you starting off your business with a bang.

The first thing you will definitely want to do is create a business plan. It doesn't have be a snazzy document with pie charts and graphs. A simple business plan will suffice. You have to state your goals, your business model, your tactics and your monthly, weekly and even daily objectives. Not having a plan is planning to fail, so make sure that you create a plan before you do anything else.

The next step to take, especially if you are in the business of marketing information products, is to brand yourself as an expert. You need to become seen as an authority on your niche. Read up on books on the topic or gain some experience in your field if haven't yet. Becoming seen as an expert will get you a lot more referrals and sales.

Finally, don't go for the free stuff all the time. What I mean is, avoid free hosting, free domain names and free autoresponders. All the things I just described require paid solutions. The free options are just not up to par at the moment. Believe me, I would be the first on board if the free stuff were any good. For word processing programs, there are good alternative free solutions to Microsoft Word, but nothing for hosting, domains or autoresponders. So invest in those. Now go and start off your business with a bang.
