The biggest lesson I learned about getting traffic online is that you have to work for it in the beginning. There is no such thing as a traffic source that you can set up and let it run on autopilot, unless you start off with a capital of thousands of dollars, which I suspect most of you don't have. Many companies that sell leads and sell 'guaranteed traffic' solutions strike on unsuspecting people who think they can get traffic just by buying it. There are some sources that do work, but 90% of such sources are poor.

So how do I flood my servers with thirsty visitors every day and how can you do it too?

Let's take a look at the systems I use:

1. I use article marketing. I write articles that are very similar to this one and just submit them to the most visited article directories on the Internet and funnel the traffic to my opt-in pages. Many people don't fully utilize article marketing because it does require work (unless of course, you have a ton of money to outsource the process). These days, I outsource a lot of my articles, but I still write many of my own because I want to keep my own style and influence on the articles.

2. I create Google AdWords advertising systems. There are three kinds of campaigns you can set up - search campaigns, content network campaigns and placement targeted campaigns. I use all three although the majority of my traffic comes from the search network. The trick is to use keyword tools like Wordtracker to pick out those keywords that are ripe for the picking (have a high demand and low competition).

3. I set up cross-promotions with other list owners in my niche market. This means they promote my products while I promote theirs (provided it is a quality product). This is one of the fastest ways to get free traffic overnight, and I'm talking about loads of traffic! So go set up some joint ventures quickly once you have some leverage (a thousand subscribers, for example).
