There are thousands of bloggers online that earn a full time income just from their blogs so if you want to know how to write a blog and make money from it then here are some great tips for your to start.

Tip 1: Don't use free blogging platforms

If you are serious about making money from your blog then this is the biggest mistake you can make. Most of the free blogging platforms run a lot of ads on the pages you create where you don't earn anything from. If you want to control your own ads and you want your own domain name then it is crucial that you avoid these free sites right away. It might seem easier to start your blog on one of these free networks but trust me, in the end it is much more profitable and easier if you have your own stuff. In the worst case these free providers could easily delete your whole blog and all your effort is gone.

Tip 2: Choose a topic with buyers

You can write about anything you want with your own blog but if you can find a topic where there are a lot of products in this market that you could recommend to your readers like for example digital cameras or gardening tools then this would be the perfect topic because people will gladly buy the things that you recommend on your blog and you get a nice commission out of these sales.

Tip 3: Get your own domain name and hosting account

You want to know how to write a blog and make money right? Then like I told you before you need to have full control of your blog. To get full control you need a domain name (like Youtube.com is the domain name from YouTube) and you need to get a solid and reliable hosting account where you can host your blog at.

If you want to write about the gardening hobby then you could name your blog something like JennifersGardeningBlog.com or something like that. Try to get the .com version or if this is not available then get the .org or .net version. These are the most trusted domain endings on the internet. The domain registrar I recommend is www.NameCheap.com where I host all my domains.

Tip: Register your domain first before you get your hosting account so you don't need to buy an additional domain with your hosting.

For hosting I recommend you sign up with Hostgator. I've been hosting my own blogs with Hostgator for over 2 years now and I can tell you that their customer service is top notch and in 2 years I had one little problem that they fixed in about 5 minutes so I really can't complain.

Just go over to www.HostGator.com and make your own impression. They are one of the top web hosting services on the market and are really affordable. If you only want to host one blog with them then you can get your hosting account for $8.95 per month (Hatchling Plan) or for $1 more you can host unlimited blogs with them (Baby Plan).

Tip: They automatically assign you a coupon code at the check out process but this is not the best coupon available. Instead you can use one of these two coupons. If you want to pay monthly then the first one would be the best. Otherwise you can also use the second one if you know that you want to pre pay the hosting for one year or so.
