Do you need to create your 'big picture' business model at the beginning of your business? I believe you do need to set some goals, especially income goals. Setting a specific income goal gives you clarity with the steps you need to take to reach there.

What you'll want to have eventually is to have a sales funnel from front to back including your low-cost entry product all the way up to your most expensive, most comprehensive product. But in the beginning, you wouldn't want to develop your sales funnel right away since you have insufficient information about what your subscribers want.

What you need to do is get some traffic first. Write a few articles and put up some pay per click ads and drive some traffic to your squeeze page and get subscribers. Once you have a few hundred subscribers, hit them up with a simple survey and get some information about their wants and needs, about what their problems are and what solutions they want.

Your subscribers will tell you what they are looking for, then all you have to do is just set out and create products that fit those needs and wants. Fill them in your big picture business model (aka your sales funnel) and take it from there. And once you have a few low-cost products and high-ticket products, you pretty much have a sales funnel, and all you have to do is drive traffic to it and make money. The one thing that binds all this is traffic generation.
