Niche Marketing Myths and Facts

There's a lot of hype about niche marketing. Unfortunately, with the excitement often comes misinformation. If you're an aspiring internet marketer this misinformation can be hazdarous. It can cost you time, money and energy. Rather than dealing with all that setback, review the facts and start your business off right.

Myth #1 There Are No More Profitable Niches

Fact: Not true. If it were the case then humanity would come to a standstill. We're ever changing species. Technology changes. Trends come and go. Life is continually evolving and growing. As we change and grow new niches present themselves. Also, there are still niches waiting to be discovered.

You can use any number of keyword tools, brainstorming approaches and resources to discover your ideal niche. Start with what you know, are good at, and are interested in. Allow the brainstorming process to lead you in the right direction.

Myth #2 You Must Select a Niche You Know

Fact: You can create a "beginner" niche and learn right along with your prospects and readers. You don't have to know or be an expert in your niche to succeed. Many people achieve great success online in a niche they previously knew nothing about. For example, in the story of Julie and Julia which was made into a movie Julie set about to learn to cook and blog her way through Julia Child's cookbook. She knew next to nothing about cooking before she started.

Myth #3 Niche Marketing is only for Affiliate Marketers

Fact: You can be a service provider, retailer, information marketer, blogger or an affiliate marketer. You choose how to best monetize your niche. Niche marketing has been around for far longer than the concept of affiliate marketing. Befoe the Internet companies learned that specializing and focusing on a small target audience reaped profits. So no, niche marketing is not only for affiliate marketers

Last, many people will tell you that you have to have a niche to succeed. Though it's highly recommended. A niche will help you reach an audience quicker and develop a loyal community of followers and customers. But, if you have other ideas about the business you want to create and are not focused on immediate profits then create your plan and take action. If you do want profits sooner rather than later and you want to have an online presence quickly, choose a niche.
