It only takes a few minutes to set up a tracking mechanism for any marketing strategy that it is folly not to do so. You will be surprised at how many Internet marketers do not test and track what they do! What is a more effective method of determining how your site or your marketing strategy: depending on your opinion alone or that of your customers? Surely, your market will tell you which offer performs better for you by putting their money down.

Testing and tracking is not an exact science. It will be different for everybody. You will have to test and see which strategy works for you, whether it is in the form of conversions or testing to see which traffic generation strategy performs.

1) Marketing

Track to see which of your traffic generation sources are performing the best for you. The only way you can do this is by putting a tracking link for each traffic generation source. You can create extension pages for your site and name them for each source, for example at.htm for article marketing and ppc.htm for pay per click marketing. Then see which pages are your leads and sales are coming from.

2) Conversions

You've also got to test conversions to maximize your profits. This is done by split-testing your pages. You show a different page every time a visitor comes to your site, then track which pages get the best response.
