Default Common Diseases that Internet Marketers Get – Look Out

Internet marketers are an intense bunch of ambitious, hard working people who spend long hours hunched over their computer screens and often don’t have the best health habits. When you add up long, sedentary hours, little to no exercise, poor diet, and high stress you get a recipe for obesity and many of the prevalent lifestyle diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and cancer that Internet marketers are at high risk for.

Good health is something that people who have it tend to take for granted until it’s gone. It’s been said that we all have the level of health that we have earned. If you think about it in terms of that old computer acronym: GIGO, which means, “garbage in, garbage out.” The expression, of course, is referring to data, but when you think about it in terms of health outcomes, if you sit around all day eating too much unhealthy food, burning the midnight oil, and not getting out and exercising, what else can you expect to get, but a sick, body that is prone to disease?

Early signs of the adverse effects of the Internet marketing lifestyle can be things like repetitive stress injuries (RSI) from poor ergonomic habits, and eyestrain, which can lead to serious vision problems from poor lighting conditions and staring at a high glare screen for hours on end.

What is the solution? If any of this sounds far too familiar to you, and you think it might be time for a change, then there are some simple things you can do to improve your health and prevent these common diseases. Here are a few ideas for you to consider:

Invest in an ergonomically correct chair, and make sure that when you are sitting in it your arms are at the correct height and the screen is positioned properly to avoid neck and shoulder strain.

Get your vision checked and follow your doctor’s advice. Take frequent breaks from staring at the screen. Stand up and stretch occasionally and gaze at a spot far in the distance to relieve your eyes.

Get a membership at the gym and schedule workouts for an hour a day at least three days a week. You can get out and walk in your neighborhood for an hour in the middle of the day, ride your bike, go swimming or take a Yoga or Pilates class a few times each week. Be sure to schedule in some physical activity for yourself at least four times a week for at least 30 minutes and at a pace that will get your heart rate up into the aerobic range.

Eat a healthier diet. Cut back on fast foods, fired, fatty, salty, and sweet foods. Add in more fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Drink fresh water instead of soft drinks, cut back on the alcohol and if you smoke, quit.
Your health is your most valuable commodity. If you do not have good health you can’t become a successful Internet marketer, so take the time and invest in your body so that it can support you as you pursue your goals.
