Why Article Marketing Doesn't Work

I think we need to point out the obvious, that you are reading an article on why article marketing does not work?

But there are some methods of article marketing that is changing. The way we use to do article marketing might not be the same. The largest is probably that article marketing is not so much for the traffic to your site as it is for the backlinking potential.

But even if you are using articles for backlinking, this may be changing as well. I am not saying by any means that this does not work, because since the dawn of media, article marketing has been a key element in your marketing matrix. I am not sure that will ever change, but I am sure it will not change anytime soon.

Let's face it, back in the day executives were penning guest columns for trade magazines or the local newspaper covering a new product launch, this was a huge deal, everyone wanted their company's name in print. It wielded major business-building power.

Move into today's time and we see that the importance of article marketing has grown tenfold. Why? Because the quantity and quality of your site's inbound links are vital factors in determining your site's position in Google's results.

I understand that it takes time to do article marketing correctly, but the benefits move beyond SEO. When you begin publishing articles online it helps you promote your products and services, position yourself as an expert in your field, and start a dialogue with valuable prospective customers and clients.

But before you start scraping, and rewriting other peoples articles, and or paying someone to write your articles for you. Let me state a couple of things as to why article marketing may not work for you.

As of February 2011, a major change by Google has affected 12% of sites - and has cut many sites' traffic in half.

This critical update to Google's algorithm - known as the Panda (or Farmer) update - means it's more important than ever that your site contains high quality content.
Stating, "... people searching on Google typically don't want to see shallow or poorly written content,"
I am not sure if you know this or not but Google now penalizes article directories and others that are considered to be link farms. This why it almost takes an act of congress to get an article approved at Ezine.

I think the point is, that it is no longer enough to simply blast articles as part of your overall marketing strategy. You must resort back to what the pro seo experts have always known, you must make sure your articles are engaging, well-constructed and packed with value for your readers.

I provide you with a FREE Website Optimization Report. These reports are usually 50-70 pages long. Focus on one keyword, shows you what the top ten sites are doing, and how you can get your site to the top of Google.
