This is a topic that is widely discussed in email marketing circles. Some Internet marketers only choose to send out to their list one or two times a month, and frankly that is not enough in today's world. People will forget who you are and your competitors will start gaining a greater 'mind share' over your subscribers.

However, sending out too often is also not ideal. Some subscribers may think you are sending out too many emails, and may become overwhelmed with the quantity of information you are sending them. Many subscribers are already subscribed to many different mailing lists from different marketers, so if you email too often, you will come to be seen as a pest and many will unsubscribe to your lists.

You must create a plan for mailing out to your list. Ideally, create a calendar for every month with the specific dates of when you are going to email to your list and what promotions you are going to do, whether it is an affiliate promotion, a promotion of your own product, a survey etc.

Track the responses to your emails. If you find lots of people unsubscribing, it might be due to the content of your email or the frequency of your mailings. Pinpoint what the problem is and fix it and tweak your mailing schedule to reflect the fixed problem (whether you are sending out too often, or the type of emails you are sending them). All these are important for creating an optimum email marketing strategy for your business.
