Why is your list your own personal traffic generator? Well, with a list, you can use it to generate traffic to your sites over and over again, on a regular basis. This is on top of the 'regular' traffic you are getting to your sites each day from your other traffic sources! So think of your list as another potent traffic source.

If I use my traffic to directly build a list, I'm turning that traffic into more traffic by virtue of sending out emails to my list to my offers or web pages. If I get 100 visitors per day to my website, and 50 opts in, I can turn that 50 visitors into 300-500 more hits to my website over the course of a few weeks or a few months through my autoresponder. So that's how you get more traffic just by building a list.

How does this work? I send my visitors to a squeeze page where they can opt-in to receive a free gift. I use this model for several of my niches and it always works amazingly. A squeeze page is a simple web page with the only aim of getting visitors to subscribe to your list. The only way a visitor can progress is to subscribe to your list, or otherwise leave your website.

Why do I do this? Well, if someone is not even willing to give me their contact details, what are the chances of them pulling out their credit card, and buying products from me? The chances are very slim. So that's another good reason to build a list, because it pre-qualifies your visitors before you expose them to your paid products.
