Yes, it is possible to become insanely wealthy from building a massive mailing list. List building has been the talk of the town in Internet marketing circles lately. There are so many people building lists out there. I'm on hundreds of lists but I personally only respond to a few of them everyday. Why? Because their emails are interesting and they provide value in some way or another. They are entertaining or they provide solid information, often at no cost to me.

You see, you have to foster a relationship with your list if you want to make money. You have to build trust to get them to open your emails and respond to your offers. In my opinion, you have to build lists and you have to build relationships with that list if you want to make the real money on the Internet.

Now, I'm not saying that typical sales letters don't work in converting visitors to buyers. Sure, they do work. But you've still got to build a list. You've got to make your visitors opt-in to your list to maximize what you get out of the traffic you are getting. If you don't, you will let the majority of your visitors get away from your website without buying and there is no way you can follow up with these people. This is a powerful reason to grow your own mailing list.

So, can you really make a lot of money in list building? As mentioned in the first paragraph, yes, you can. It is going to depend on a number of things. How hard you are willing to work. What niche you work in. How good you are in developing relationships with your subscribers. All these will come to play to determine how much you make.
