It is a common belief among many marketers that you don't need to create your own product to succeed online. I beg to differ. While you can create a nice income selling affiliate products, ultimately you are not just building your own business, you are building other people's businesses. Sounds like a good thing, right? But the problem is, you're giving away a lot of your profits because a good chunk of it goes to the merchant. Imagine if you replace the affiliate product with your own product; you pocket all the profits.

So by now you realize you need to create products to maximize your online income. How do you decide what product is suitable to create?

Here are 3 techniques to help you on that front (and they all involve a powerful tool called surveys):

1. If you have a mailing list of your own, ask your list members what product they want. You can literally ask them what product they want you to create, and you can just create it and they will buy it from you. Or you can simply ask them what their burning question is.

2. You can create a simple survey using your autoresponder or Survey Monkey and then use pay per click traffic to get some fast answers. Using an autoresponder, if possible, is a great idea because you are building a list in the process as well!

3. You can go to online forums in your niche and simply post a thread asking people what information product they feel is missing in their lives. Then go and create the information product. You can also look for common trends and problems that often surface in the forum.
