Arrow Increase Your Web Traffic- What Percentage of Your Time Should You Spend on Free Traffic Strategies?

I've been asked before what percentage of my time spent on marketing do I spend on paid traffic and free traffic. I would say my traffic is about split 70% from 'free' sources and 30% on paid sources.

Free in terms of money anyway.

No traffic source is 100% free, because you are spending time working on it. If you spend 2 hours a day writing articles, that's 2 hours gone. Bye-bye. Tada. You can't get it back. So you must realize that every traffic generation method that you put time or money into is going to cost you in one way or another.

So to answer the question: What percentage of your time should you spend on free traffic strategies? This depends on your situation - your advertising budget, your strengths and your weaknesses.

If you love writing and just love to write for the fun of it, article marketing will be up your alley. In fact, you have a strength as an Internet marketing if you love writing. Everything on the Internet is about creating content. You can create blogs and post content to them on a regular basis, and that will bring you traffic.

On the other hand, if you are more the analytic type, and you don't like writing, then pay per click advertising (paid strategy) and search engine optimization('free' strategy) will be right for you. These strategies require a more considered and a careful approach. You have got to keep testing and keeping track of your metrics to create a successful campaign at these two traffic generation strategies.

So take stock of your strengths, then fire on from there to create an effective traffic getting plan.
