Recently, a few critics of article marketing have come out and say that it is overrated or that it doesn't work.

Well, everyone is free to think what they want to think and do what they want to do when it comes to their business. I personally am a big fan of article marketing. I am also a fan of getting traffic for the search engines. I like any traffic generation method that gets me leads and makes money. I have no 'deep preference' for any traffic generation method just because I want to deny the 'big dogs' (the article directories) the chance to make money from my articles.

You can get traffic from submitting content to your own site or blog. And you can get tons of traffic from article marketing. The idea is to get more traffic and leads to your funnel. So when you combine the two strategies, what happens? Your traffic explodes.

The idea of traffic generation is not to concentrate all your resources on one traffic source. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Buy lots of eggs and place them in many baskets.

Look at traffic generation in this light:

100 visitors per day from article marketing

100 visitors/day from SEO

100 visitors/day from classified ads

100 visitors/day from Pay Per Click

100 visitors/day from press releases

And so on. Do you think you can get 100 visitors from each of the traffic methods mentioned above? It is very doable.

So don't think of terms of a few traffic sources. Those who get the most traffic are those who think bigger and really expand their thinking as to what is possible with each and every traffic source.
