Step 1 - Go To Amazon
Amazon is a niche hunting goldmine. See what are the best selling books on there and see if there are any niches that might be profitable. Take a note of hot selling topics. Also, if you have a niche in mind, just do a search and see if there are several books on the topic. If there are, it means the niche is usually a profitable one.
Step 2 - Use Alexa
Search for popular sites in your niche market and use the 'Related Links' function to find other sites that visitors like to visit. This will give you more ideas about what visitors in your market are looking for. This is powerful stuff. Don't discount this!
Step 3 - Check Ebay
Go to Ebay Pulse and just see what are the hottest selling products on there. You can then enter a drop shipping arrangement with a wholesaler where you get them to ship products on your behalf when you receive orders. This is the most cost effective way to sell physical products online.
Step 4 - Visit Forums
Forums are 'living' vaults of ideas you can use to find niche markets to enter and rake cash from. See what recurring questions that people are asking on the forums. What are the recurring topics that always seem to appear?
