Building a customers list is always a smart business move, whether for an online business or an offline business. Some marketers used forced opt-in tactics that give customers no option but to opt-in to continue to the download page or Thank You page. It's not a good idea to get your customers to opt-in by forcing them to do it. It's best to give them an option unless of course you offering a membership content series via autoresponder, then that would be a viable reason to have the opt-in as a mandatory thing. Most processors these days frown on the forced opt-in and you may end up in trouble with some of the more particular customers. A better way to increase your opt-ins and build your customers list is by offering them a free incentive for opting in and still give them the choice to continue to your Thank You page. Most (I would say 90% or more) of your customers will opt in to receive the bonus incentive. This bonus incentive can be: - a free report that complements your paid product - a video tutorial series - an exclusive interview with an expert - access to a secret membership area or community area There are many other ideas you could use to get your customers to opt-in to your list. Then when they are there, you can sell them higher ticket products such as home study courses and coaching programs. This will increase your income considerably. So spend time creating a bonus incentive to build a customers list.
