Arrow The Article Marketing Conundrum - Which Niche Should You Target?

This is the perennial question that article marketers often face: which niche should I target? The answer to this question would depend on a number of factors.

Firstly, do be aware that some niches receive tons of traffic from articles and others very much less so. But some niches, although they receive lesser traffic, will convert visitors better.
For example, one of my favorite business models is to build an opt-in page and build a list and make money on the backend. Now, articles in the Internet marketing niche do receive some nice traffic, but it's nothing compared to traffic in the health niche, for example.

I submitted 10 articles yesterday in the health niche and each of them got over 20 page views on average within just a few hours while my Internet marketing related articles plodded along at 5 to 10 views. That's easily a 100%-300% increase in traffic in the health niche.

However, opt-in pages, from testing, may not work as well in the health niche. This is because the direct marketing style of opt-in pages may not go down well with the audience. Hence, opt-in rates are much lower than for the Internet marketing niche, where people are used to entering their email details to receive free gifts.

Also, although many interested Internet marketers have lots of emails clogging their in-box everyday, the time they spend online and in their email in-box is considerably higher than someone who is interested in health. So open rates for emails might not be such a marked difference.

The bottom line: go with a niche that is profitable and that you feel comfortable in, and preferably also have an expertise in it. It also has to suit your business model. It will make it much easier for you to sustain the business by pumping out articles that bring in more traffic.
