People turn to LinkedIn when they are looking for a job, grow their network, and advance their career, so this is a serious group of smart, motivated action taking people. If you are looking to generate solid leads for your business, LinkedIn is a great place to start attracting them, but you must go in with goals and a plan. In this article we're going to look at some tips that will help you to put your LinkedIn lead generation campaign into high gear.

1. Complete your profile
Use the wizard on your profile and complete your profile 100%. Post a professional picture of yourself, and use plenty of relevant keywords to help boost your profile's SEO rankings. Make and ask for recommendations from your friends and colleagues. Imagine how much more confident a prospective client will be in your abilities when you have eight or ten positive testimonials right there on your LinkedIn profile. There are lots of additional things you can do to boost your profile, such as adding a video and importing your blog feed. Be careful about importing tweets to your LinkedIn profile, unless you are diligent about only posting appropriate tweets because they will end up on your main profile.

2. Schedule one day each week, and set a target number of new connections to make each week.
Be diligent and consistent about making connections and following up with your new contacts each week.

3. Join groups and start groups in your niche
Join groups and become active answering questions and being a resource. Those who find your input valuable will naturally follow the link to your website for more information about you and what you have to offer.

4. Contribute to LinkedIn Answers
Search for and answer questions in your area of expertise. Be a resource and don’t try to sell yourself or your products and services.

5. The fortune is in the follow up
Once you begin making all of these new connections follow up with them and further the relationship. Create a valuable eBook or report that showcases your expertise in your topic and invite those with questions to download it. Make sure that your free eBook includes your email address, website and phone number so that prospects can follow up with you if they like what they find in your report.

*Bonus tip: Host regularly scheduled webinars or teleseminars where people can get valuable content, answers to their questions and begin to see you as a trusted expert. Require that attendees fill out a form with their name and email address in order to participate and invite them at the same time to join your opt-in list.

So, you see that if you have a plan, set some goals and take consistent action you can see some great results when you leverage the power of LinkedIn to generate leads for your business.
