Default Affiliate Marketing Tips: How to Use Forums to Grow Your Online Business

Affiliate marketing is all about solving problems for your customers. You help to create demand for, and pre-sell the products that they are looking for to answer their questions and satisfy their search for solutions. Forums are places online where people go to get answers to their questions whether it's a forum on knitting, fly tying, or software development, these are places where people go in search of information. As an affiliate marketer with a solution to your prospective customers needs, you should be making use of the forums that cater to the needs of the people in your industry or niche who are looking for what you have to offer.

· Have a plan and set goals for what you want to accomplish with forum marketing.
The reason many people consider forum marketing a waste of time is that they approach it without a plan, or goals for what they want to accomplish. You can’t improve what you don’t measure, so setting goals and measuring your progress towards those goals gives you a clear benchmark for measuring your success.

Decide how many leads you’d like to generate each day or week, how many hits on your website, subscribers to your email list, or downloads of your free products and track your progress as you go.

· Find the best forums in your niche
Do a search for the forums that match the keywords for your niche. A quick browse will tell you if the forum is active or if it has fallen by the wayside. Create a list of the top three or five forums depending on how much time and attention you plan to devote to this project.

· Be willing to invest your time and energy to getting to know the members of the forum
Before you go in and start posting, take the time to read the forum’s posting guidelines. Learn the policies about whether or not they allow links from your signature file, etc. Hang out and get a feel for the tone of the forum. Are people fairly friendly? Is the forum well moderated or is it full of spam? Taking the time to find a good, well moderated, active forum will save you time later.

· Create a compelling profile
Read the rules and create your profile accordingly. If the forum allows it, create a tasteful signature file with a link back to your website. Add an appropriate photo and fill in all of your social media links where people can find out more about you if they want to.

· Go first. Be a resource and establish your authority & credibility
Create free products and post them to your site so that you will have something to offer people when you send them to your site.

If you do not approach forum marketing with the right mindset you could end up wasting a lot of your time and energy just making idle conversation. We want to avoid that at all costs because your time is valuable. Let's take a look at how you can profit from the time you invest in forum marketing, and how you can use your efforts to actually grow your business.
