The 'gurus' often tout their latest marketing fad that claims to drive thousands of visitors to your site. But do you know that some old warhorses of traffic generation still work like gangbusters?

Here are 3 'old' traffic generation tactics that generate tons of visitors:

1. Traffic Exchanges

Traffic exchanges have often been derided for generating untargeted traffic. The problem is most people aren't using them correctly. You can't use them for anything other than building a list. Use them to promote a squeeze page to grow your mailing list and you will find success with traffic exchanges. You can't promote a direct sales page on traffic exchanges and expect any sales. So promote your own squeeze page.

2. Online Classified Ads

Classified ads sites remain strong traffic generators! You'd want to post ads on sites like Craigslist, Yahoo Classifieds and even Ebay's own classifieds section. The point is to do it in volume to get your ads out to as many eyeballs as possible. Ad writing is the key to success with classified ads. Spend time studying materials from Dan Kennedy or Joe Sugarman and keep a look out for other classified ads that catch your eye.

3. Article Marketing

And here is the king of all 'old' marketing tactics: article marketing! It is still probably the best free online traffic generator that is residual. Your articles remain circulated for years and each article will generate at least a few hundred views on average over a few years. It's one of my top marketing methods. It might work for you too!
