There are so many affiliates right now who were having problems with their blog posts. You know why? Blog posts with uncloaked affiliate links were having a big effect to your website or blog's rankings. We know that Google hates affiliate links, and they will have a chance to drop your website's SERPS all the way down!

Do we need to cloak our affiliate links? How?

It is truly recommended that you need to cloak your affiliate links. With its cloaking feature, your website or blog's SERPS won't be affected (depends on how skillful you are in keyword research and on-page SEO). We can easily cloak them with free services like Bit.Ly, TinyURL, Goo.gl and a lot more. But if you have a domain, you can easily redirect it with your affiliate link. In that case, when a potential customer or lead clicks your domain, it will be redirected to your affiliate link.

Is it really necessary to cloak all of them?

It's not really necessary though, only if you're not doing it for SEO purposes. But if you're doing it for backlinks, it won't be a problem. But most internet marketers and webmasters truly recommend that you must cloak your affiliate links with domains, URL shorteners and a cloaking plugin (if you're using WordPress). It's not really that hard to cloak them, but it's very important.
