If you've been in an online business for any length of time, chances are you've got some sort of email database of customers, clients, visitors and fans of your website. Inbound links from other related, authority site help boost your site's search engine rankings because the more quality inbound links, the more legitimate your site looks to the search engines. Given that link building is a process that never ends and should be a high priority if you want your site to rank well, here's a way that you can leverage your email list to help build relevant links to your website to boost your site's SEO and get more traffic and exposure.

One of the reasons that the task of link building is often neglected is because it requires taking the time to cultivate relationships with other businesses, organizations, and bloggers with similar audiences and interests to your site. Then you've got to come up with a process for asking for links and then following up. Not that difficult, but a little challenging sometimes when it's a cold contact.

But if you've been taking the time to build an email list and cultivating a relationship with that list, then why not turn to those folks who have already expressed an interest in staying connected with you and your business? Even when there is already a connection in place, the people you ask for links from are still more likely to actually take action when there is an incentive for them to do so. Answer in advance that age old question, "What's in it for me?" in a satisfactory way for them and they'll reciprocate in kind.

· Offer a free eBook, video or audio series that will be valuable and useful to them, and ask that they write up a quick review of it. They can post the review on their blog or social media platform with a link back to your site.

· Create an award that your readers would be proud of winning. Send an email to your list asking for votes, and ask those who vote to share the email with their network. When the winner is chosen, send the badges out by email with an anchor text link back to your site.

Host a contest on a topic relevant to your audience, such as:

· Coming up with a witty caption for an eye-catching photo
· Sharing an experience with your product or service
· Sharing favorite recipes
· Instructions on how to do a particular task

· Post all of the entries on your site, and invite participants to tell their friends and followers about the contest. Create a badge for the winner that they can place on their site with a link back to your site.

· Offer a special on your products or services in exchange for a link or a review.

If you create an appealing incentive, and make it easy for them to take action, you should get a good number or relevant links from your email subscribers. And, of course, if you do not have an opt-in email subscriber list this is a fabulous time to start building one. You email list is a valuable asset to your online business that will boost your income and your marketing opportunities exponentially.
