When a visitor arrives on your site, he is a 'cold' visitor. To get him to trust you, you have to give away some worthy free content that is valuable and informative. You can create a free report or a free e-course and give it away in exchange for their name and email address so you can keep in touch with them.

If you don't capture their email address, most visitors will simply click away from your website and leave, without buying from you. You have just lost a customer. A typical sales conversion rate on the Internet is 2%. Imagine this - 98% of your visitors leaving your website, most of them forever!

If you start building a list, though, you may get 20%-40% of visitors subscribing to your list. You can email to these visitors through your autoresponder because they have subscribed to your list. You can expose them to your paid offers again.

Don't see your list as an ATM machine, though. Send them free, valuable content often. They did sign up for your list to receive free content. When you send free content that people can put into action, it builds trust. And when you send out your promotional offers, your response will be much better than if you just pitch products all the time.
