It's a great tip for boosting your search engine friendliness - having a domain name that has a longer expiry date in the future tells the search engines that your site is not a fly by night site, but a serious business. Against a site with just a one-year 'contract', your site will get the better rankings if based on this factor alone.
2. Use Dashes In Your Domain Name
Separate your keywords with dashes in your domain name. They do make a difference as your keywords are now distinguishable and it is more recognizable to the search engine spiders.
3. Use Your Main Keyword Phrase In All Your Meta Tags
Include your main keyword phrase in all your meta tags, including your title tag, keywords tag and your descriptions tag. Each and every tag adds more 'SEO juice' to your website.
