There are so many bloggers today who are getting addicted in building backlinks to various sources. Some of the sources that I'm talking about are press releases, guest blog post, blog commenting, article directories and video sharing sites. But don't you know that even a lot of traffic and backlinks are considered meaningless? It is because your backlinks are not targeted to your own niche.

Why targeted backlinks are very important?

The reason why your backlinks must be targeted because your potential customers are there. These people are hungry to search and buy products that is related to your niche. For example, if your niche is all about dating, your targeted sources should be related to dating. Sub-categories under dating shall be considerable (don't build backlinks on something else). So it means that if you're in the dating niche, you should not build links in other sources like home improvement, internet marketing, music, etc.

Choosing the right category is also very important for niche bloggers. When you choose a category for your topic, make sure that it is niche-related and not the others. But also try to limit your related categories to only 2-3 in your own blog, but other sources like article directories and press releases shall only allow you to choose one category or sub-category. You will lose some targeted traffic if you are building backlinks and categories in a wrong way. It's really important that you should choose the right sources to build backlinks for your own niche website or blog.
