Things you’ll hear that just aren’t true... #1 – “If You Buy This Product You’ll Earn A Million” This one is usually not said directly – but it is often strongly implied. Products aren’t the source of your income... you are! Don’t get fooled by promises like these. If you’re already working with a particular business model you’ll no doubt be better served by sticking to what you’re doing, not starting over from scratch! If you are going to make a purchase try to make one that will compliment your existing strategy instead and you’ll likely get much further ahead. #2 – “This method is so easy you only need to push a button and all the work is done for you!” A common extension to point #1 above is that you’ll be required to put in little to no effort. One-Click software and “never before seen” strategies like to play up how simple it’s supposed to be to succeed... For whatever reason, people fall for this on the internet far more often than they should. If it were really that easy we’d all be rich by now! Don’t imagine that you won’t have to put in the effort to see the results. I will say that there are many great pieces of software out there that simplify and automate tasks that – when performed manually – are normally time hogs. You’ll need to learn to spot the difference between a time saver and a phony one-click-wonder. #3 – “This is the last product you’ll ever need to buy!” Wrong. There are so many different ways to earn an income online but one thing is true for virtually all of them – they’re in a constant state of evolution. Of course some change more quickly than others... Chances are strong that 10 years from now the Internet Marketing scene will be using some pretty cool new strategies and frankly if you’re in this for the long haul you’ll be making more purchases – especially education related products. Besides, if you’re looking to be successful you’ll likely have to use a multi-prong approach to this industry. You’ll might use social media, your own website and an autoresponder which is already 3 different (but hopefully integrated) approaches. In short – It’s unlikely that one product alone will give you a steady, lasting income that you can build a life around. #4 – You shouldn’t expect to see results for many years. There are lots of stories about people who tried for years to earn an income online and only recently found success. There’s no reason why you can’t be start to feel successful today instead of tomorrow. If you were working a “regular” job you wouldn’t do it for years before seeing your first paycheque would you? You should be making money in this industry before you make it into the “big leagues”, not just after. #5 – If you don’t see measurable results right away it’s time to try something else. Don’t expect results over night – but keep at it. Shifting your focus to new ventures all the time means that all the work you did before will only have short-term benefit. Stick with it and you’ll start to see the long-term benefits from your effort. Start with small goals and achieve your initial successes that way. You’ll be motivated to keep achieving your next goal after achieving your last and, eventually, you’ll get to where you really want to be with your business.
