Ezine ads have come under some fire recently. Most say they are not effective and find it hard to find any good ezines to fire out ads too. Most also report disappointing results from their ezine ads that go out.

Here's the raw truth about ezine ads and I'm giving it straight up!

Most ezines are overly saturated with ads going out every few days or even every day. And ezine owners sometimes don't help matters by indicating in their ad very obviously that it is a 'solo ad', even in the subject line. This reduces the success rates of your ezine ads dramatically, since people don't like being sold to and indicating that it is a solo ad will definitely lower your traffic and sales from these ads

But when you find the good ones, you do have some decent results. Don't expect more than breakeven or a loss for most ezine ads that you send out; the goal with these is to get leads rather than sales.

A good resource for finding quality ezines is this: The Directory Of Ezines by Charlie Page. There's a mountain of newsletters for you to pore through over there.

Here are some tips: subscribe to newsletters that you find interesting and see how they write their emails and how often do they email out. If they mail out once or twice a week, then there's a chance the ezine would be more responsive. If it's too often, chances are the subscribers would get tired of receiving so many emails!
