The best email marketing tips you will receive are those that keep your subscribers in mind every step of the way. Courtesy will take you farther, whether you are looking for signups or sending emails to subscribers. Give your readers something to chew on but don't come on too strongly.

The purpose of email marketing is to acquire present and future customers. When a person opts in to your email list, they are doing so for one or a combination of reasons. You may have offered something for free that was just too interesting to pass up or they may be very interested in your product and truly want your emails. Either way, you want to keep them hooked.

When a person subscribes, always use the double opt-in process. When a subscriber submits their email address and then bothers to click in an email to confirm, the chances are that they are truly interested in what you are marketing. Not only does this separate less serious subscribers from prospective customers, it is actually the only legal way to go about growing an email list.

Don't make your emails all about your brand. Ask anyone how they feel about junk mail in their mailbox. They don't want a long letter about Tide Laundry detergent and ads about Prilosec can be annoying. However, a letter that tells how to get out certain kinds of stains and refers to Tide at one or more points is nice - as are letters discussing ways to control heartburn that aren't all about taking a pill. Don't shove brands down your customers' throats. Introduce them. Follow these and other email marketing tips carefully if you wish to continue to grow your mailing lists!
